Beautiful Rajasthan old earrings called "Pupat" , worn by the Mutwa muslim community living in Kutch. This group of people settled in this area 250 years ago after their ancestors emigrated from Arabia to Sindh and Kutch, where the kings gave them shelter. Only married women are allowed to wear this ear lobe ornament. These "Pupat" earrings are composed of a solid silver frame with geometrical painted decoration under transparent glass. Some glass beads decorate each end of the earrings.
One of the small glass plates is missing, as are a few glass beads. On the upper circular elements some bits of the base paintings is slightly faded. Very special earrings, collectors' item, with a wonderful patina. These earrings measure 9,5 cm high (3,74 in) and 4,6 cm wide (1,81 in).The gauge of the wire that goes through the earlobe hole is 0,2 cm. They both weigh 46 gr.
